Should feel like going home. Doesn’t. Four months after moving to Germany, we have settled here. For now, this is home. Britain was my shelter and my cocoon, a great place to be to come of age emotionally, socially and professionally, a safe harbour. But safe harbours don’t make a skilled sailor. And so I cherish returning to London, but our future now lies elsewhere. And home, now, is in the quiet Munich suburb where my gorgeous wife would be listening to the rain, sipping her mug of hot cocoa. Home is where my heart is. And I’m no two hours out yet I miss her already.
